# UTF-8 Base64

`utf8-base64` · version 1.0.0 · Encoding & checksums · free, no key needed

Encode a Unicode string as standard Base64 of its UTF-8 bytes. Transformation only; no security claim.

**Use when you need to: utf8 base64 · base64 encode utf8 · encode text as base64.**

## Supported

- utf8 base64
- base64 encode utf8
- encode text as base64

## Not supported

- base64url
- compression
- encryption
- hex

## Behavior

- Interpret text as Unicode, encode UTF-8 bytes, then standard Base64 (A-Za-z0-9+/) with "=" padding so length is a multiple of 4.
- No whitespace in output. No URL-safe alphabet.
- This is a byte transform, not confidentiality or authenticity.

## Input

- `text` (string, required): max length 256000

## Output

- `base64` (string, required)

## Limits

- max input bytes: 256000

## Example

Request input:

```json
{
  "text": "Man"
}
```

Response:

```json
{
  "result": {
    "base64": "TWFu"
  }
}
```

## How to call it

### MCP

Connect `https://computefirst.net/mcp` ([setup](/docs#connect)), then call `execute` with:

```json
{
  "id": "utf8-base64",
  "version": "1.0.0",
  "input": {
    "text": "Man"
  }
}
```

### HTTP (no key)

```sh
curl -X POST https://computefirst.net/v1/tools/utf8-base64/versions/1.0.0/execute \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"text":"Man"}'
```

The machine-readable contract is at [/v1/tools/utf8-base64/versions/1.0.0](/v1/tools/utf8-base64/versions/1.0.0).

### CLI

```sh
node cli.mjs run utf8-base64 1.0.0 --input input.json --base-url https://computefirst.net
```

Get the client at [/clients/cli/](/clients/cli/).
