Behavior

• Replaces tab characters (\t) with space characters.
• Lines are recognized across standard line endings: LF (\n), CRLF (\r\n), and CR-only (\r).
• If leading_only is true, only tabs in leading whitespace (before the first non-whitespace character) on each line (including after LF, CRLF, or CR) are replaced.
• If leading_only is false or omitted, all tab characters throughout the text are replaced.
• Each replaced tab is converted to exactly tab_width spaces (between 1 and 16, default 4).
• Does not calculate visual tab stops or Unicode character widths.
• Returns the modified text and the number of tabs replaced.
