Generate a UUID v5 from an AI agent
You need a stable UUID derived from a namespace and a name, so the same pair gives the same UUID every time, in any system that follows RFC 9562.
Use uuid-v5-generate@1.0.0. It is free and needs no key or sign-up. Generate deterministic RFC 9562 UUIDv5 values from a namespace and UTF-8 name.
Why call a tool for this
A UUID v5 is a SHA-1 hash of the namespace bytes and the name bytes with the version and variant bits set. A model cannot reliably work that out by reasoning.
Call it over HTTP
curl -X POST https://computefirst.net/v1/tools/uuid-v5-generate/versions/1.0.0/execute \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"namespace":"6ba7b810-9dad-11d1-80b4-00c04fd430c8","name":"www.widgets.com"}'
Response:
{
"result": {
"uuid": "21f7f8de-8051-5b89-8680-0195ef798b6a"
}
}
Call it over MCP
Connect https://computefirst.net/mcp (setup), then call execute with:
{
"id": "uuid-v5-generate",
"version": "1.0.0",
"input": {
"namespace": "6ba7b810-9dad-11d1-80b4-00c04fd430c8",
"name": "www.widgets.com"
}
}
Check the result
The namespace must be a canonical lowercase UUID. The DNS namespace is 6ba7b810-9dad-11d1-80b4-00c04fd430c8 and the URL namespace is 6ba7b811-9dad-11d1-80b4-00c04fd430c8. The name is limited to 4096 UTF-8 bytes and is not normalized, so two Unicode spellings of the same text give different UUIDs. This tool does not make random UUIDs, and a UUID v5 is not a secret.
Full contract, limits and unsupported cases: Uuid v5 generate.
